A Night of Grace, Mercy, and Homecoming The Padre Pio Healing Mass returned to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore on Friday 28th August, drawing a remarkable crowd once again. Year after year, the devotion to Saint Pio continues to deepen across Ireland — a testament to the love people hold for this great Capuchin saint and the hope so many carry for healing in mind, body, and spirit. A Gathering of Capuchin Fraternity This year’s celebration was marked by the presence of five Capuchin friars, each bringing a unique thread of the wider Capuchin story: Fr. Antony Kurian OFM Cap — chief celebrant and preacher Fr. Kevin Kiernan OFM Cap — Guardian of Church Street Friary, Dublin, and Director of the Capuchin Day Centre Fr. James Connolly OFM Cap — newly returned to Ireland after 51 years serving the missions in Zambia Fr. Godfrey Pereira OFM Cap — from Kerala, now part of our newest Capuchin community in Knock Shrine Fr. Seán Kelly OFM Cap — Ballinamore native, now serving as Parish Chaplain at Knock Shrine Their presence offered a beautiful glimpse of the global Capuchin fraternity, united in prayer, service, and the charism of St. Francis.A Homily Rooted in Mercy. Fr. Antony’s preaching centred on Padre Pio’s abiding love for Jesus and Mary, and the saint’s extraordinary dedication to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He reflected on Padre Pio’s long hours in the confessional, where countless souls found healing through the mercy and forgiveness of Christ. His message resonated deeply with those gathered — a reminder that healing often begins with the quiet courage to seek God’s compassion. Music That Lifted Hearts The Anna Martin Memorial Choir enriched the liturgy with their beautiful singing, adding depth, reverence, and a sense of homecoming to the celebration.
