On 31 July, Fr. Sean Kelly, OFM Cap., was invited to preach an Ignatian Retreat at the Knock Prayer Centre, part of Knock Shrine, one of Ireland's most important places of pilgrimage and spiritual renewal.
Throughout the year, Knock Shrine warmly welcomes pilgrims, prayer groups, and retreat groups from Ireland and abroad. Through its Prayer Centre, the Shrine offers a rich programme of retreats, days of reflection, and opportunities for silent prayer. Many experienced retreat directors and preachers are invited to lead these gatherings, helping people to deepen their relationship with Christ.
During this retreat, Fr. Sean Kelly preached on "The Eucharist and the Divine Plan", drawing on the rich tradition of Ignatian spirituality. His reflections invited participants to discover more deeply God's loving plan of salvation revealed in the Eucharist and to grow in prayerful discernment in their daily lives.
As the Knock Capuchin Friary is located within the Shrine grounds, the Capuchin friars are also occasionally invited, with prior arrangement, to preach retreats, celebrate Holy Mass, and help retreat groups visiting Knock.
For the Capuchin friars, it is always a joy and a privilege to proclaim the Gospel whenever they are invited. In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, who encouraged his brothers to preach Christ with humility, simplicity, and love, they are grateful for every opportunity to accompany people on their journey of faith.
